![]() NORTH LAKE TAHOE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT (Crystal Bay/Incline Village) Burn permits are required and residents must verify if a day is a permissible burn day through the Placer County Air Quality Management District for permit holders in the North Tahoe Fire Protection District, or the El Dorado County Air Quality Management District for permit holders in the Meeks Bay Fire Protection Dist CAL FIRE and the Air Resource Board, in conjunction with the Counties’ Air Quality Management Districts, regulate "burn" and "no burn" days. ![]() Those possessing current and valid residential burn permits may resume residential burning on permissible burn days. (The outdoor burning of wood and charcoal is never permitted at Short-Term Rentals.) Homeowners are permitted to use properly screened wood-burning firepits and chimeneas, and charcoal barbecues throughout the cold weather months unless high winds/red flag weather conditions prohibit safe use. The mild summer and good precipitation this fall prompted CAL FIRE to liftīurning restrictions effective October 9, 2023, and the Fire Chief has lifted seasonal fire restrictions for North Tahoe Fire and Meeks Bay Fire Protection Districts effective the same date. NORTH TAHOE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT (Meeks Bay and North Tahoe) Burning of household refuse, trash, cardboard, rubber products, tires, plastic, petroleum, construction debris, and other non-vegetative materials is prohibited. Keep fires away from any overhanging branches. Clear a 25-foot radius noncombustible area around all fires. Keep pine needle and slash piles small and manageable. Have a charged garden hose and hand tools nearby. Provide a thirty-minute fire watch after extinguishing any fire. and all piles must be extinguished by 3:00 p.m. No open burning is permitted on No Burn Days as determined by the Fire District. Permit holder shall visit prior to any burning activity to determine if it is an approved Burn Day. Permit is valid for open burning only at the address listed and only for materials authorized. Please call 775.588.3591 to schedule an inspection and obtain a permit. Permits for open burning of pine needles, slash piles, construction warming fires, and recreational fire pits are available Monday through Friday, free of charge. In addition, effective October 9, 2023, outdoor burning is permissible. Beginning October 9, Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District is lifting the suspension of the use of solid-fuel and charcoal barbeques that have been in place in the Tahoe Township, Douglas County, Nevada.
